Commonly Asked Questions
My 38 System and or my 38/240, 360 motor now comes with a large bore Aft Closure. Will it work with the old
motors and the smaller nozzels?
YES
What's this extra part I got with my 29/240 (SOON TO BE RELEASED 29/360) or any of my 38mm
motors greater than the 480? Do any other motors use it?
The "extra part" is called a forward Seal disc. It is REQUIRED for the 38/480, 38/600, 38/720 and 38/1080
motors. See Technical Article 3 for a complete discussion. Any order that includes a 29/240,360 or 38/ 480, 600, 720
or 1080 case (including a 38 system) will include a seal disc.
In the past, I've had to wait a long time to receive my hardware. Do you have all this in stock?
Absolutely. Though we still experience occasional shortages, we usually have all hardware in stock and available for
IMMEDIATE shipping. Over 90% of our orders ship within 48 hours. We also offer UPS 2nd Day and Next Day Air
service. Check our "Availability" link below for updates.
Does your hardware come with a warranty?
Of course. We stand behind our product. All our hardware is warrantied against manufacturing defects only. Follow
the instructions that come with your reload kit EXACTLY. Failure to assemble your reload correctly can destroy your
hardware. We cannot replace hardware damaged because of assembly error. We warranty that the hardware is
manufactured to the standards and tolerances required on the Aerotech blueprints. Remember, it's all made by the
same machinist.
Do your parts interchange with Aerotech's?
The parts are manufactured by the same machine shop to the same tolerances. They will interchange perfectly.
The 54mm extended forward closure. This closure is required for the 3 long-burn White Lightning reloads: the J90 (54/852), J135(54/1280), and K185 (54/1706).
Does Aerotech approve the use of Aerotech reload kits in Dr. Rocket hardware?
Yes. Aerotech approves the use of RMS reload kits in Dr. Rocket hardware. The Aerotech reload kit warranty is still
in effect, just as if the reload had been flown in Aerotech hardware.
Is this hardware Tripoli approved.....can it be used at Tripoli sanctioned launches?
Yes. The following is from Bob Sisk, chairman of the Tripoli Motor Testing (TMT) Committee:
" As long as reloadable
motor hardware is made of the same materials and to the same specifications and tolerances as that used for testing,
TMT will consider it acceptable for use by certified Tripoli members." The full text of the letter is available from Dr.
Rocket at our company address.
The following is from Gary Rosenfield, President of Aerotech:
"The Dr. Rocket hardware is mfg. to the same blueprints
(and thus the same materials, dimensions and tolerances) as the original RMS. They will even be made by the same
machine shops. The only differences will be the color of the anodization and the labeling. Prior to LDRS, I had a
conversation with Bruce Kelly about this subject. He stated that he would consider any AeroTech licensed hardware
to be certified as if it bore the AeroTech label. AeroTech subsequently sent letters to the motor testing committees of
both the NAR and Tripoli detailing the licensing plan and the fact that AeroTech considers this hardware identical in all
engineering respects to its own. To date, no exception has been taken by either organization to the certification status
of the licensed hardware." (Gary Rosenfield, Compuserve, 7/23/96)
Dr. Rocket hardware can be used at Tripoli and NAR sanctioned launches.
